No equality without the integration of disabled

Kosovo institutions must work hard in implementing the law on disabled persons, so that even this category of society can find full integration. So said this morning at a roundtable on the basis of the World Day of Limited Skills Day [...]
So it was said this morning at a roundtable, on the occasion of the World Day of People with Limited Skills, where it was said that Kosovo without the integration of this category cannot be said to have inclusive societies.
The director of the Youth Department in the Ministry of Culture, Xhevat Bajrami, said the youth department has envisioned many activities for supporting marginalised groups in integrating disabled persons.
We do not support disabled persons on December 3rd, we throughout the year support such activities. The Ministry of Culture aims to boost not only capacities for individuals but also for organisations in order to help new entrepreneurs”, he said.
The chairman of the Kosovo Forum of Limited Skills, Bujar Kadriu, said December 3rd should have a special place in the country's institutions, while adding that integration of disabled persons should be taken seriously by Kosovo institutions.
“Kosovo, the country's institutions, has the obligation to respect international mechanisms, the SAA. Disobedience of laws produces a negative effect on disabled people. We have the most advanced laws in the region, but implementation is in question. The SAA itself imposes restandardisation of laws. The Kosovo government should take this seriously because without the integration of disabled people there is no equality. Without an improvement in the lives of disabled people, we cannot say that Kosovo has comprehensive society”, he said.
The media's role in presenting disabled persons was also praised at this table.
Isa Kurtisha said that the media have influenced society's senbilisation so that this category is not seen differently from the rest of it.
The media's “Role has been the imdias in the sensibicization of society so that these specific categories are not seen differently from the rest of society. I'm quite pleased with what's been achieved”, he said.
The lack of the library for the blind, the deaf, legal infrastructure for disabled persons are some of the topics that representatives of different associations established today on the International Day note for disabled persons.
