The court hearing against the four deputies of the Vetevendosje Movement, who are accused of throwing tear gas at the Kosovo Assembly in 2015, which was set to begin at 09 o'clock, at the request of the trial panel chairman Bekir Kaluldra, began late at 10:00, was also why witness Kadri Wessel failed to testify about the case.
During the first part of the trial session, which was held without media presence, the chairman of the Becir Kaluldra court brought the four accused, Albin Kurti, Donika Kadaj-Bujupi, Albulen Haxhiun and Faton Topalli, out of the hall after having rejected the State Prosecutor's decision, which has renounced the testimony of Prime Minister Kadri Veselin.
In the second part of the prosecution's session, Albin Kurti, Donika Cadaj-Bujupi, Albulen Haxhiu and Faton Topalli have testified to their innocence and their actions have called them political, actions that, according to them, prevented the life of the Zajednica and Demarkation Agreement with Montenegro, which they considered to be “harmful actions of” for Kosovo.
During the second part of the session, accused Albulen Haxhiu on behalf of the accused, has also called for more than 30 witnesses to be heard, including the country's prime minister Ramush Haradinaj, Kosovo Assembly Speaker Kadri Veselini, president Hashim Thaci, Deputy Prime Minister Fatmir Limaj, and other parliamentary names for whom Haxhiu said they are the key factor for the ongoing process being tried, which was rejected by State Prosecutor Valdet Gashi and the chairman of the panel, Beqir Kadra.
Following the end of the session, accused Albulen Hadziu of a press motion, said the chairman of the court, Becir Kaluldra, plans to serve prison sentences for the four accused of political actions in the Kosovo Assembly.
It has considered continuing to hold in custody of Albin Kurti and Donika Kadaj-Bujupi.
The “detention is unacceptable for Vetevendosje Movement, there is no reason as there has been until now that Albin and Donika are kept in custody, he continued this until December 29th. And of course this is unacceptable, as seems to be the judge, Kaluldra plans to serve prison sentences to the Republican Parliament deputies, for political actions in the Parliament, and this is somehow trying to replace it with the measure of detention he has declared so far for the deputies of the Parliament”, she said.
Haxhiu has accused the judge, Becir Kaluldra, of taking orders from the proto clan and clan Isa Mustafa, never bringing justice to activists of the Vetevendosje Movement.
The accused and deputy of Kosovo's Parliament, Faton Topalli, after the session, said the process in which the four deputies of the Vetevendosje Movement are charged is a set political process.
The “in all judicial processes that were conducted so far against the deputies of the Vetevendosje Movement were invited to witness only MPs, who were part of the position at the time, that is, the Democratic Party of Kosovo and the Democratic League of Kosovo, while not allowed to witness the opposition deputies, who were involved and are witnesses, who have seen all the events and recognised all the processes, so this is showing that we have to deal with a process until the end of the proposed”, he said.
While the defendant's defence attorney, Donika Kadaj-Bujupi, said he expects the defense after the final word is declared unwarranted, Kadai-Bujupi.
Albin Kurti, Donika Cadaj-Bujupi, Albulen Haxhiu and Faton Topalli are charged with criminal acts “Using the weapons, or dangerous vehicle” and “Pegim of the official person in carrying out official task”, in connection with throwing tear gas into the Kosovo Assembly.
