President Donald Trump has signed an executive order declaring national emergency as the cause of human rights abuse and corruption worldwide, imposing sanctions on people who have been involved in these activities.
The United States tries to impose visible and tangible consequences for those who commit serious human rights abuses or who are involved in corruption and to protect the financial system of the United States from abuse of these people.
So I say that serious human rights abuses and corruption worldwide pose an unusual and extraordinary threat to national security, foreign policy and the United States economy, and I declare here a national emergency to address this threat”, the order says.
Human rights abuse and corruption are said to undermine values that constitute the fundamental foundation of stable, secure and functional societies; they have devastating influences on individuals; they weaken democratic institutions; they degrade rule of law; they perpetuate violent conflicts; they facilitate dangerous people's activities; and they undermine economic markets. The United States tries to impose tangible and important consequences for those who commit serious human rights abuses or engage in corruption, as well as to protect the financial system of the United States from abuse of these people.
For these reasons, the American president says that serious human rights abuses and corruption worldwide pose an unusual and extraordinary threat to national security, foreign policy and the United States economy, so I declare a national emergency to deal with this threat.
