Fifty years earlier, in the first boarding room 509 at the Students Centre in Pristina, he had started studies Ibrahim Rugova, who two decades later will become the main leader of the people of Kosovo on the long road to freedom, independence and democracy.
In 1967, Rugova had enrolled in Pristina the Faculty of Philosophy, Albanian Language and Literature and was placed in the boarding room 509 with three other students: Rexhep Ismajlin, currently academic, Shaban Shaban and Xhemaledin Salih, students from Presevo. Riza Halimi, now a politician from Presevo, also trained in this room.
Salihu during a report to the newspaper “Voice” details from the student life of former President Ibrahim Rugova, praising him as the pure-hearted Albanian and the student who deepens in readings even when roommates do not stop talking aloud.
Salihu says that at the time at Pristina Student Centre there was only one dormitory, while there were two beds in the room where four students slept.
