The American Council for International Relations (Council Foreign Regations) has identified in its annual report “Presidential Priories” 30 havens, which, according to their assessment, may grow in major wars in 2018, and the document also mentions the Balkans as the “serious threat”, which was presented in this report for the first time this year.
As it claims, the threat group is part of the dangers posed by potential political unrest and extremist violence in the Balkans, whose instability has previously shaken the world.
The data on the report was obtained on the basis of research by the American Council for International Relations's Centre for Preventive Stocks, and it was worked by foreign policy experts.
Eight possible conflicts and crises are in the category of the highest priority, prior to the US conflict with North Korea and its neighbours, because the threat of nuclear conflict is increasing, while US and North Korean presidents Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un are very unpredictable and increasingly provoking each other.
The group also finds possible US and Iran armed conflict cyber attacks on US network infrastructure, as well as the deliberate and unintentional conflict of Russia and NATO members.
Also in the high priority threat group are armed conflict in the Chinese Sea, terrorist attacks in the US, and in any of their allies considering that Islamists do not stop with assault threats, the passage of the Syria conflict, the new conflicts in Afghanistan.
In the second category, there is the danger of which would be smaller than at first level, including conflicts in Ukraine, Yemen, Myanmar, violence between Kurds with Iraqi forces and Turkey, Israel with Hezbollah, as well as increasing tensions between Israelis and Palestinians in general.
In the 3rd category of potential risks other than the Balkans are mainly African states such as the dangers of the Boko Haramï terrorist attacks and other attacks of Islamists.
