Albania to commit to transformation of KSF into military

Albania's Chief of Staff of Armed Forces Bardhir Kolcak said today that Albania will commit to helping transform the KSF into the Armed Forces, always according to constitutional changes and in co-ordination with international partners of both countries.

The Albanian general stayed at the FSk Ministry today, where he met with Minister Rrustem Berisha and KSF Commander Nakman Rama.

It was Kolcak's first visit abroad after his appointment as chief of Albania's Armed Forces General Staff.

Kolcak has expressed enthusiasm for what he saw in the KSF, as well as said he feels privileged that the first visit as Chief Staff is making to Kosovo.

While he said support for KSF would continue over the next year, where, according to him, the opportunity to participate in NATO operations would be seen

“We are determined to support the transformation of KSF into armed forces within constitutional changes in consultation with partners. We are determined to deepen co-operation in the field of training, but also in training, but not to neglect the possibility of KSF being part of NATO to ensure regional and wider security because the professional level and training allow such a option”, Kolcak said.

He has not forgotten to express his thanks for the help the Kosovo Government has given to Albania by sending KSF members to Albania to help the population with flood cases.

I thank General Rama and the Government of Kosovo for professional assistance in the case of emergencies we had in Albania in case of floods. The KSF showed itself not only in the immediate reaction but also in the professionalism of its members and carried out a paradise condition for the destroyed bridges or helping the population in the infected areas, and also in the amount of bridges it donated to the Armed Forces”, Kolcak said.

For the visit he made to Kosovo, Kolcak has received thanks from Lieutenant General Beftman Rama.

He said on that occasion that Kosovo needs Albanian Army experiences.

I thanked the Albanian Army Chief of Staff for helping us especially this year that I can say the KSF is closing this successful year and part of this success is the Armed Forces. But we also discussed deepening the co-operation and support of these forces, and absolutely we will have support, we need Albanian Army experiences especially in terms of European integration”, Rama said.

The Albanian general has also visited the Centre for University Studies, which is within the framework of the Kosovo Security Force. /Kosovo pres/
