Wessel: Kosovo Olympic Stadium to be built

Kosovo Parliament Speaker, meanwhile, was also inaugurating this stadium. PDK, Kadri Veselini, who promised that in the next four years, they will invest around 100m euros in stadiums.

Wessel also cited construction of the Kosovo Olympic Stadium, which he said would be built in Drenas.

“We will continue investing in sports, sports will be our priority for the next four years. We will invest minimally in these four years around 100m euros in stadiums alone, be sure. This stadium is not complete. It's in the initial phase. Tributes will be built. At the same time we will continue the stadium in Vushtrri, we will build a stadium that will meet all criteria for international games. We are in the final phase of an investment which will be close to the largest Olympic Stadium, which will be a sports centre in Drenas, which we will build a 50m-euro investment, at the same time we will continue in Prizren municipality the second largest stadium in the Republic of Kosovo”, Veselin said in Kacanik, Kosovapress reports.

He also said that the “Adem Jashari” stadium in Mitrovica will be finalised very soon, as well as the Pristina stadium, which he said, although small, is in the centre of Kosovo and is the pride of football.

Wessel said he would continue to build many small football stadiums, and at the same time at each school sports grounds will be built.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Kujtim Gashi, said they agreed they would continue with the second phase of the stadium's construction, which will also regulate the stands.

Minister Gashi said that during his mandate, he will make efforts to pull out of a stadium in every city.

I've received a message from the beginning of my mandate from Speaker Wessel to make every city with a stadium, so we're trying to have stadium investments in every city within the Ministry of Culture's objectives. Therefore, other demands and other initiatives that will come from the mayor of the municipality we strongly support”, the minister said.

Good example, and to be followed by other municipalities, he called it Kosovo Football Federation chairman Fadil Vokri. Who said he hopes will continue in other cities building such stadiums.

There is one example that should be followed in other municipalities as well, and I hope that we do a lot of shopping on the sports infrastructure side of Kosovo and I hope that we will continue here in other municipalities”, Vokrri said.

While the current chairman of the Kachanik municipality, Besim Ilazi, who on November 19th will face a run-off with Basri Vetevendosje Hill, said the construction of this stadium became thanks to aid from the central level.

Thanks to the work and support we've had from the central level, namely from the Government, and from the Ministry of Culture, respectively, we've managed to complete today a project or the first phase of the stadium project that bears the name of the witness Besnik Begunca possibly. A stadium where today we are streaming to the cost of which there has been about 300 and 23 thousand euros in co-finance with the Kacanik municipality”, Ilazi said.

Construction of the city stadium of Kachanic “Besnik Begunca” is being done in financing by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and the Kacanic municipality.
