Uzbek immigrant has been accused by US prosecutors of causing the deaths of at least eight people in New York during the truck attack.
Sayfullo Saipov, 29, is also accused of providing materials in support of the so-called Islamic State.
He was shot and wounded by police at the scene of the attack and treated at the hospital, broadcast Kosovas Press.
US President Donald Trump wrote on Twitter that he must receive the death penalty. The charges brought against Saipov are federal, which means the Government can cancel the ban on the death penalty in New York.
