A debate has recently opened about how the Vetevendosje Movement has organised transportation for its voters in Pristina. This is being presented as a scandalous act. Initially, it was reported by Klan Kosova how people were transported to the polling centre from Vetevendosje.
Vetevendosje Movement Chairman Visar Ymer has commented on these reports, saying it is an internationally recognised practice and Vetevendosje has done the same.
Of course our voters we identify them. These voters accept it in advance, agree to call earlier and provide assistance. In this case we offered them transportation. This is common and all other parties do. Besa, is also one of the most popular practices in the international countries”, Ymer said.
Are such practices exciting in the world?
Canada and America lead with such practices.
In Canada's general elections in 2015, on November 15, 2015, the Canadian prime minister had invited citizens who could not go out and vote at the center of his party, which enabled voters to transport for free.
In his tweet, then prime ministerial candidate Justin Trudeau called on voters to head to his party, the Liberal Party, if they need free transportation.
“Do you need transport to the location today? Just call 1-888 - LIBERAL and we're going to send you this far”, Trudeau wrote on Twitter.
For such practices, the United States of America is also known.
In a reasoning of an American company, it is said that this practice is intended to help under-represented voters exercise their right to vote as citizens.
