He made these comments during his meeting with Canada's Foreign Minister in Ottawa, Chrystia Freeland, with which he talked about bilateral co-operation, but also on the international scene.
Thaci expressed satisfaction that the visit is being accomplished by the time Canada is marking the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the confederation and that he had the opportunity to give recognition for Canada's commitment to world peace.
“I visited the military camp at Halifax, where Kosovo refugees were expected during the war. Canadian meetings that have contributed to peace in Kosovo and the world”, President Thaci said.
The president said that Kosovo is grateful for the support Canada has given for decades and added that this friendship is the foundation of co-operation that needs to deepen even more, especially in the economy and in security. Speaking of Kosovo's achievements.
President Thaci said that Kosovo has now been consolidated inside me and is working to complete the state's consolidation even on the international stage.
“Russia is aggressively rejecting Kosovo's citizenship, as in the case of Suriname”, President Thaci said and invited for greater support and co-ordination on the international stage with all the friendly states.

For her part, Canadian Minister Freeland said it is impressive what Kosovo has accomplished, especially when given the challenges it has faced.
“Canada is a friend of Kosovo and you can always count on Canadian support”, Minister Freeland said.
President Thaci said Kosovo is defined for membership in NATO and the EU and added that the region's rapid integration into NATO and the EU is the best way to prevent the penetrate of anti-Western ideology in the Western Balkans. “And our future is in NATO and the EU. The sooner we enter NATO and the EU, the entire region, the sooner the door and the opportunity to destabilise both Russia and all other anti-Western ideologies” will be closed, Thaci said.
