The referendum on Independence, considered illegal by Madrid on October 1st, pushed Spain into its worst political crisis in decades.
The situation was frustrated following the dismissal of the Catalan separatist authorities by the Madrid government, expected with little resistance. But uncertainty can be restored if the pro-independence camp wins the December 21st elections.
But, “El Pais” writes that only 24 per cent of respondents would like to proceed with the independence process after the elections, while 71 per cent say they would like politicians to find an agreement based on Catalonian stance as part of Spain.
Also, the survey shows that pro-independence parties may not get the absolute majority in the Catalan parliament, in next month's elections, broadcast tch.
This would be a significant blow to separatists, who consider the elections a plebiscite on Madrid's decision to establish direct rule in the region last month.
