At the round table “Media and Journalists' Security in Kosovo” held in Pristina, Niciq recalled that such commissions were formed by the governments of Serbia and Montenegro, that they produced results and that due to them several court processes were launched, reports “b92”, Periscopi broadcast.
The commission also needs to be formed here, especially because we have more security systems dealing with all these cases, but also U. NMIKU, EULEX KFOR, local prosecution and police”, Niciq said.
He welcomed the chief prosecutor's decision in Kosovo to appoint co-ordinators and prosecutors to basic courts dealing with cases of attacks on journalists.
No case has been resolved so far and, as long as we know, only one case is being investigated. We must seek answers to what is being done, why so far these cases have not been resolved and what was the problem that they are almost 20 do not solve the years,” said Niciq.
O Mission Head The SEU in Kosovo, Ian Bratu, said there was not much work done to establish a commission to investigate journalists' killings and disappearances.
We have some activities planned next year. The process is going slowly, but it is still working on it,” said Bratu./Periscopi/
