Serbia and Russia are exploiting demarcation with Montenegro for their interests”

International ambition for marking the border line between Kosovo and Montenegro could be an option if the Kosovo government fails to ratify the agreement for demarcation in the Assembly. International Relations Professor Fatmir Arifi has said the Kosovar and Montenegrin sides have made mistakes in this process since the beginning.
According to him, Montenegrin Serbs and Russia tend to create interstate contexts for their interests
The two sides, in my opinion, have, in Kosovo and Montenegro, made serious mistakes. Furthermore, both the United States and the European Union have not assessed geopolitical developments in the Balkans, which are awash with genocide from the past. Montenegro, and this I want to stress for the first time publicly, on their commission has had great pro-Serbian influence, which, as a primary goal, tended to create interstate disputes for the sake of their interests and the Russian Federation in terms of the Balkans. Since the Balkans are in the phase of Euro-Atlantic integrations, and for the Republic of Kosovo, this is symmetry, any dispute that creates delays such a process” has said Arifi for Indexline.
He has added that the Serb minority with its influence in Montenegro has influenced the Podgorica government to be their victim.
“As such, the Serb minority in Montenegro is not uninhibited in the Podgorica government and has always followed such political lines that, in essence, are aimed at creating interstate crises, which have always produced harmful effects for the fragile Western Balkans region, but even wider. In this segment, I can say that Montenegro is the victim of this” influence, Arifi said.
We remember that days ago Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj has said demarcation of the border with Montenegro could end in Arbitrazh, as there is no vote in the Kosovo Assembly for ratification of the current version agreement.
While Eurodeput Ulrike Lunacek several days ago in visits with state leaders, she said the European Union does not accept new agreements, asking Kosovo deputies to vote on the demarcation agreement so that Kosovo citizens can have the right to travel to EU countries without visas.
