Putin: Russian Army Must Have More Modern Weapons

Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered today that the Russian army and fleet be equipped with more modern weapons to reinforce their capabilities.

“The army and our fleet must have the most modern families”, Putin said during a responsible meeting of the military and taknic sector in Soci, stressing that these should be produced by Russian enterprises.

The “needs to be of the same quality or, which would be even better, to be of higher quality than foreign counterpart versions”, he continued.

If we want to be ahead, if we want to win, we have to be the best”, the Russian president explained.

This statement comes as relations between Russia and the West -- mainly Washington -- are at the lowest levels since the Cold War due to the conflict in Syria and Ukraine.
