Press statement from the EU Office/ The EU Special Representative, EULEX, EU Mission Chiefs in Kosovo
Kosovo has a European perspective. But Kosovo's pace of approaching the EU clearly depends on the pace at which it implements reforms in all relevant areas, especially in the area of rule of law and fundamental rights. A functional, effective, multiparty parliamentary democracy is essential in Kosovo in order to enable Kosovo lawmakers to make these reforms very necessary. It is important that democratic processes be followed, that parliament meet regularly, function properly and effectively, and support rule of law. We expect all selected representatives to act responsibly and to apply without unnecessary delay the priorities that reflect the will of the people.
Regarding the second round of municipal elections, the EU is closely following all developments and expects all political actors to act responsibly, for the sake of the people of Kosovo.
