Erdogan also stated that Ataturk's name was “used by certain ideologies” as a “through their goals”, reports “Hurriyet Daily Night”, Periscopi broadcast.
“Pucists, pro-junta circles and all segments that are enemies to the history of this country and the values of this nation are trying to hide under the sail of Ataturk”, Erdogan said.
Erdogan has singled out the Republican People's Party (CHP), which was founded by Atatürk, for “the abuse of Ataturk's name” and “did not protect his legacy”, pledging that his party is “set to protect Ataturk's legacy”.
“We are preserving Ataturk and his memory from the tyranny of these abusers, preserving the Republic and preserving Ataturk's legacy. We aim to bring the nation over the level of contemporary civilisation, which he highlighted as his greatest goal”, he said.
