Engel: Demarkation, matter to be resolved as soon as possible

The Kosovo government has held a solemn meeting in honour of US Congressman Eliot Engel.

American Congressman Eliot Engel told Haradinaj that he is doing an excellent job and that he feels good about the progress achieved in Kosovo.

Engel also said Kosovo would have its support and that of the US. While stressing that one day they will also celebrate Kosovo's entry into the EU and NATO.

Haradinaj asked him to help Kosovo and on some open issues.

“Do not close the dialogue with Serbia, do not get the remaining recognitions from EU countries, and our failure to achieve as a member of the UN reveals Kosovo major obstacles to domestic development. Although we are defined Euro-Atlantic society, and with conviction and vision, we face more difficulties than the countries of the region. Even Kosovo citizens are not free with free circle. For example, we have a visa regime from the EU, which is difficult for Kosovo citizens. So we use this opportunity that we have today to pray to him as a friend and as a man who enjoys great authority in Washington to unite once again, as in the most important stages of Kosovo, Washington and we can close the remaining open issues for Kosovo. US Congressman Eliot Engel presented Haradinaj with the U.S. flag, which waves at the convention building July 4th on American Day, at Elliot Engel's request to honour Ramush Haradinaj.

While asked about Haradinaj's request for America's involvement in dialogue with Serbia, he said he would lobby for America to have a safe involvement in Balkan and Kosovo.

So we have a new Government in the United States that hasn't done the year, and they're solving some of their issues, but when I get back from this trip, I'm going to try to make sure America has a safe involvement in the Balkans and Kosovo. Those meetings are important. We must have a timetable, so that this country can move to join the EU and NATO, progress must be achieved. I think the U.S. has a voice that's bigger, more loud and will do all I can to push these things because it's the right and right”, he said.

At the same time asked whether Haradinaj has been negotiating the demarcation with Montenegro, he said he opposes holding Kosovo hostage, due to this issue, but that this issue should be resolved.

“I think demarcation is important issue and is one of the issues that needs to be resolved. The sooner it is resolved, the better. It's not the only issue, and there are many other issues. I am against holding Kosovo hostage because of this issue. However, it is a question that must be resolved”, he said.
