SBASK through a media communique has reacted to the idea of Minister of Education, Shyqitti Bytyqi that August is aimed at starting a whole-day teaching in those schools that have conditions in the next year, saying this presents a new and harmful experiment on education systems in Kosovo.
According to August, Kosovo needs 142 school objects and 85 annexes, of them elementary schools, high school and physical education halls, while the investment value of all is around 371m euros.
The SBASK is looking for August and Minister Bytyqi to step up to the whole day's learning and the idea of that kind of teaching starting in some schools since next year's school analysis well, since such a practice in European countries is not binding on all students.
And according to the practices of European countries, it's not the same teachers who engage in whole day teaching. There are other educational and supporting quarts engaged in day by day with students”, said in response.
Furthermore, the SBASK reminds the August and the DK that with teachers now in the education system, it cannot be considered applying such entire daily learning, because they have their full 20 hours of teaching and another 20 hours of training for the learning process and communication with students and parents, and with the demands of their new Curicus will take many and many more hours of commitment to fulfill their skills and teaching duties.
These teachers cannot be forced to work on this standard defined by the Law and Kosovo's Kolective Education Treaty. So if you get into this whole-day learning experiment and if it's done as in Europe and you're allowed to have students declare themselves and if we assume that only half of 369,309 students, while they're in pre-university education, engage in this kind of teaching then there should be about 6,000 new educational quarts involved and their salaries, for which no less than 33 million euros a year. But if all Kosovo students preferred going to teaching the whole day then, some 12,000 new educational frameworks and the additional budget of about 66m euros per year” would have to be engaged further in response.
The SBASK also reminds Minister Bytyqi that today Kosovo does not fare badly with the number of school objects and most of them are new constructions, but most of the 1114 educational institutions lack contemporary teaching tools, and in their absence it is difficult for teachers to achieve the desired successes.
“An idea for whole-day education had “born” even two or three years ago in a Kosovo municipality, but given that it was wrong, this idea was silenced”, the SBASK reaction concludes.
