The Al-Ekhbariya news channel announced the death of Prince Mansour bin Muqrin, deputy governor of the province Asir.
He said the helicopter had several officials on board, and didn't reveal the cause of the crash.
The clash comes after Saudi Arabia on Saturday has caught and destroyed a ballistic missile near Riyadh International Airport after being fired by Yemen, in a escalation of the kingdom's war against Iran-backed Huth rebels.
The missile attack was the first led by Shiite rebels in the heart of the Saudi capital, underlining the growing threat posed by the heated conflict in Yemen, writes AFP.de, reports yet Panorama.'"
The attack stressed that the war in Yemen is spreading increasingly to the border after a Saudi-led coalition began military intervention in 2015.
Saudi Arabia led the intervention to support President Abedrabbo Mansour Hades' government after Hustis forced him to emigrate.
