Different than a year, according to current data, some 100,000 people are infected with infectious diseases. According to health officials, the number of infectious diseases is about 60,000 cases for 100,000 inhabitants. These figures have been given to the National Institute of Public Health in Kosovo.
Sali Ahmeti, infectedolog, told Radio Free Europe that cases ending fatally are usually accepted in advanced stages of disease by health institutions from all over Kosovo.
“We as infectious diseases take the most severe cases from all over Kosovo, and undoubtedly the complex cases come to the University Clinical Centre of Kosovo (QKUK), respectively, at the Infectious Clinic”.
These are high risk for life, and the mortality rate based on clinical cases, results to be higher in relation to the number of infectious diseases”, Ahmeti says.
According to him, the risk of patients gets even greater when they don't find a cure in regional clinics and eventually head to QKUK.
The patient's beauty is relative, as it depends on the season of epidemic explosions. But the number of cases frequenting the Clinic is about 150 patients a day, until hospitalization is done for about 15 people a day. As for drugs, for most of our diseases we possess them, but there are times when there is a lack of them”, Ahmeti points out.
Meanwhile, Lul Raka, of the National Institute of Public Health, says that the death toll, as well as infectious diseases, is not real, since many are not reported.
“Fenomen of infectious diseases in Kosovo is one of the priority areas in Kosovo's health, as there is a considerable degree of death that is higher than reported to us or even to Kosovo Statistics Entin”, Raka says.
The “Fenomen of infectious diseases will also be conveyed a long time of Kosovo health, but with the co-ordination of key acts such as the Ministry of Health, the University Clinical Centre of Kosovo, regional hospitals and the National Institute of Public Health, it will be better managed and the scope of the problem will be lower, and that is our target”, Raka points out.
Infectious diseases, in addition to man - to - man spread, are spread by water pollution and infected animals, mainly rodents, which contain food and drinking water.
