European diplomacy head Federica Moghrini said the idea of the joint “structure of EU security and co-operation” is no longer a dream, but a reality.
Speaking at the European Defence Agency's annual conference, Mogerini said 23 members confirmed their readiness and that soon they would join the functioning of the new army, the Indexline broadcasts.
“Building a security structure of the European Union and defence. This is no longer just a plan, this is no longer a dream, it's a reality that has been reached”, Mogher said during a speech in the SDA.
She recalls that ten days ago she received an agreement on a new defence alliance (Pesco) within the EU, which includes financing and development of a joint military device that has so far been signed by 23 EU states.
“After more than 60 years, Europe finally has a defence and offensive structure based on its own” capacities, Moghrin said.
“We will be able to respond well to crises, or prevent them, we will be able to strengthen our allies, make their citizens secure. Building a safe Europe on the continental level and very powerful”, she said.
