Kosovo's Statistics Agency has published health statistics for 2016, where it turns out that 74,728 patients were operating at the University Clinical Centre, where 22.610 of them were operated.
According to the AKS, this publication provides data on the total number of employees in public health institutions by gender and degree of education; data on the activities of the University Clinical Centre of Kosovo (QKUK); general hospital activities; medical visits to the Main Centre of Family Medicine (QKMF); pre-clinic services; data on TB sufferers; on infectious diseases in Kosovo, etc.
According to the results released by this publication, the total number of health - care workers in 2016 was 14,048 people, 3,626 were medical doctors, 8,950 nurses, and 1,72 non-medical staff.
The number of cases treated with malignant and public health institutions was 2.514. Some 509 cases have been handled in private hospitals. During 2016, 481,292 days of healing at the University Clinical Center, with 74,728 patients lying down, with 22.610 patients operating. Meanwhile, about 1,002,173 individual and diagnostic services for patients have been performed, while laboratory services (parameters) have been performed 1,146,209 for 293,731 patients. Also, some 58,891 controlling visits have been carried out at the University University Stamatology Centre of Kosovo (QKSUK), 188.155 dentist services and 91.355 services for patients outside Pristina”, the AK communiqué says.
The number of licensed private health institutions has reached 1,333, of them 26 hospitals and 1,307 other health institutions, such as ambulances, polylicins, etc.
The largest number of licensed ambulances constitute the dentistic ambulances by 549, or 29.5% of licensed private institutions.
