Although in the small number of running, women in the 2017 local elections managed to get considerable number of votes in several municipalities.

Out of 204 candidates, only 8 of them were women were running for the leadership of 38 Kosovo municipalities.

The Central Election Commission announced preliminary results in municipalities, and it turned out that the most voted woman in proportion to the number of voters among women is Mimoza Kusari- Lila.

Mimoza Kusari Lila, Alternative-Ghakova Former Gjakova Mayor Mimoza Kusari-Lila competed for a second term in the October 22nd local elections, this time under the Alternative party as she left the New Kosovo Alliance.

This candidate, in these elections, received 13 thousand and 434 votes, respectively, 32.04 per cent of the total vote in Yakova.

These results marked reductions compared with those in 2013 when there were approximately 80,000 more votes.

However, if compared to AKR's candidate in this election, Edmond Dashi, Kusari-Lila, exceeds by 13 thousand votes, as in the October 22nd elections, Dushi received only 431 votes, or 103 per cent of the total vote in Gjakova.

Kusari-Lila failed to win in the first round, and on November 19th is expected to face a run-off with Ardian Djind from the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo.

Valdete Idrizi, PDK- Mitrovica

The candidate of the Democratic Party of Kosovo for the Mitrovica municipality is the most votes candidate in this municipality.

Idrizi, according to CEC results in the 22 October elections, received 9 thousand and 13 votes, respectively, 63 per cent of the total vote in Mitrovica.

Idriz, who first ran, managed with her votes to take her The PDK in the second round of elections, where it will face Agim Bahtiri, former Mitrovica Mayor who in this election received fewer votes than Idriz.

However, she failed to pass by vote on her co-party run in past elections, Avni Kastrat, who had more than 3,000 votes in 2013 than Idriz in this election.

Kastrati had received 12 thousand of 609 votes, 42.60 per cent of the vote, respectively.

Sabiha Shala, PDK-Pine 

The candidate of the Democratic Party of Kosovo for the Pec municipality failed to secure enough votes for victory or passage into the second election round.

Shala, according to the CEC, won three thousand and 977 votes in the October 22nd elections, respectively, 9.28 per cent of the overall vote.

It in these elections ran against five men and one woman, while the winner of this municipality emerged Gazmend Muhharrier from the Democratic League of Kosovo with over 50 per cent of the vote.

Compared to Muhamet Halitay, run by the PDK in the 2013 elections, Shala has about 2 thousand and 400 votes less.

Halitay in past elections had received 6 thousand and 392 votes, respectively, 15.23 per cent of the total.

Emilia Redzep, NDS- Prizren 

He was run by nonova Democraticska Strankaı, a party of Bosnian community representation, Emily Redzepi, also failed to bring victory to this party in Prizren.

In the elections held Sunday, Redzepi garnered 2,000 and 932 votes, or 4.75 of the overall vote.

Redzep ran in front of nine men to take Prizren's mayor's seat, meanwhile in the runoff for this municipality, went to Shaqir Totaj from the Democratic Party of Kosovo and Hatim Bajzak from the Democratic League of Kosovo.

NDS had not run this municipality in the 2013 local elections.

Gonge Chaushi, North Mitrovica PDK 

The candidate of the Democratic Party of Kosovo for Northern Mitrovica lost in this municipality with a very small percentage of the vote.

Caushi, at her run in a Serb-run municipality, managed to get 738 votes, respectively, 9, 58 per cent of the total vote.

In this election, it ran in front of three men, two of them members of community parties not majority.

Victory in this municipality marked Goran Rakiq from the Serbian List with 66 per cent of the vote.

Arta Ahmeti Jurani, AAK- Drenas 

The candidate of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo for the Drenas municipality suffered deep losses in this municipality.

According to the CEC, Ahmeti-Yalani managed to get 564 votes, or 2,43 per cent of the total vote in Drenas.

In this race, she faced seven men against the candidate, while the victory in this municipality marked Ramiz Ladrovci from the Democratic Party of Kosovo with nearly 60 per cent of the vote.

Ahmeti-Yylani garnered smaller numbers of votes than her fellow party, Shaban Hasi run by the coalition AAK-LDD in the 2013 elections, which received 926 votes, 4.01 per cent of the overall vote, respectively.

Hyierette Isufi, LDK- Hani of Elez

The candidate of the Democratic League of Kosovo, which was in the race for one of Kosovo's smaller municipalities, also reached a small number of votes.

Isufi garnered 374 votes, 7,59 per cent of the total vote, respectively.

She ran against two men -- one of them independent candidate Rufki Suma, who won the third term in the October 22nd local elections.

Unlike the above examples, Isufi exceeded in the number of votes, along with her party in the 2013 elections, Zylbear Hasalari, who had received 358 votes, or 6,84 per cent of the total vote.

Eneida Kelmendi, Word-Peja 

Besides being the least-voted woman candidate, there are also the smallest number of votes at the overall level.

Eneida Kelmendi, party candidate Word for the Pec municipality in Sunday's elections, garnered 221 votes, 0.52 per cent of the total vote, respectively.

Kelmendi ran against five men and one woman in the race, while the victory marked Gazmend Muhharri from the Democratic League of Kosovo with over 50 per cent of the vote.

The Word Party has not been candidacyd for the Pec municipality in 2013.
