The Swedish politician of origin from Kosovo, Tina Xhemajli, who is a member and deputy head of the Municipal Council in the Stiffanstorp municipality in Sweden, has decided to leave her party -- the Fashion Party, one of the two largest parties in Sweden -- due to dissatisfaction with the treatment of women within the party, Klan Kosova reports.

Cemreajli said. for Swedish television news program Sveriges that there is a “medieval view of woman”, within her party.

Xhemajli had become a member of the moderates, a party with liberal-conservative ideological views since 2006, and was one of the party's leading politicians in Stiffanstorp.

There is a culture within the party that creates disadvantages for women. Especially for young mothers it is often heard how inappropriate it is to be politically active”, Xhemajli said.

It says that it is quite different when it comes to men having children compared with women.

For men it is said that it is a precious thing to have children. They are rewarded with even higher wages and” positions.

Kemajli herself felt in inequality when he was absent because of his birth.

She, a year and a half earlier, had accepted the approval that she was allowed absences from various meetings to care for her newborn daughter, but during her break of birth, had been asked by the party to give up her post because her long absence was unacceptable.

This is one of the reasons I've been leaving the party, but above all, it's the culture that promotes the party about these questions”.

I'm a witness to some of these cases, but I don't want to mention any names, it's up to us women to deal with these problems”.

However, Xhemajli, when asked who are the people within her party asking women to leave their political posts within the party only because they are women, she has refused to give any names.

Xhemajli's statements have opposed the mayor, Christian Sonesson, saying what is being presented by Xhemajli does not stand.

Our party's “opportunities are equal to women like for men”.

“does not specify gender what position, or what pay it takes. So what Tina is saying isn't true. I don't see we have such a problem at the party”, Sonesson said.

Meanwhile, Tina Xhemajli has declared she will continue to hold her positions as a member of the Municipal Council and deputy chairman.

I take the responsibilities that belong to me because I have voter confidence. I do this job and I do it right. For my decision I have received very positive messages from people”.

It has shown that maybe in the future it will become a member of another party with which they shared similar positions, Klan Kosova reports.
