At least 5,600 fighters from the so-called Islamic state have returned to their homes in the states, as the IS is continuing to lose territory in Syria and Iraq.
According to the organisation's “report The US-based Sougan Center”, 33 states have reported arrivals over the past two years.
These figures include half of the 850 people expelled from Britain.
Aside from this report, it is said that returning persons, most of whom are imprisoned or missing, will pose a challenge to the security of the coming years.
The IS has lost most of the territory that was part of “califatin” it announced in June 2014, drawing thousands of jihadists from around the world.
