Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has said that Kosovo has adopted adequate measures to promote a full and effective equality among members of communities in all areas of economic, social, political and cultural life.
We have installed the principle of employment quotas in public institutions to ensure that non-most communities participate in the work of public institutions. We have installed the principle of quotas at public universities, so that the right to higher education is guaranteed to all”, he confirmed.
The country's first said further that inclusion and participation is one of the principles promoted in Kosovo.
“Such a role is played by the Consultative Council for Communities, when representatives of all communities living in Kosovo contribute ideas and projects to improve the lives of their community or all communities. It's this one of the mechanisms we've built to promote one of the main values we've built as a society and as a state dialogue”, he said.
He also spoke of the launching of the Commission's truth and reconciliation as a mechanism to promote dialogue among ethnic communities, to close the conflict chapter and build the peace chapter and co-existence.
“We are committed to dialogue with Serbia to normalise relations, build good neighbourly relations”, he said.
