American Space Agency NASA has studied Earth's satellite past and discovered something interesting about its history.
Experts at NASA believe that three to four billion years ago, the moon had an atmosphere.
According to NASA's new research, intensive volcanic activities extracted molten gases on the surface of the moon, at such speed that they could disperse into the cosmos.
These blasts carried gas compounds, such as carbon monoxide, and formed a temporary atmosphere around the moon that could last up to 70 million years before it was distributed in the darkness of the cosmos.
The study, published in the magazine <x0th>Eath and Planetary Science Letters”, suggests that the atmosphere was more intense than 3.5 billion years ago. It is thought to have contained traces of sulfur and water.
David Kring from the USRA, said this would dramatically change our views about the moon.
When the moon had the atmosphere, it was three times near the Earth as it is today and may have appeared about three times as much in the sky”, he said,
