According to intelligence intelligence, the hostages had moved to Pakistan's northwest border, thus helping Pakistani forces successfully realise the rescue operation.
Taliban leaders confirmed in December that they had published a video featuring the kidnapped American-Canadian family, including their children held hostage by the Haqhan terrorist network. The video provided by American intelligence shows the couple's two boys, while American Catlan Coleman was pregnant with the third child during the kidnapping.
