Smart people are twice the risk of mental illness compared with their less intelligent colleagues -- and more often they suffer from physical anxiety, found a new study.
Researchers at Pitzer College showed 3 grand and 715 members of Mensa, IQ society, about anxiety, depression, autism, ADHD and other disorders, broadcast Indescline.
All participants had an IQ over 130, evidently higher than average 85-15.
The study revealed 20 percent of the intelligent group's anxiety and depression compared with 10 percent of the average IQ population.
Integrationally, participants seemed more sensitive to asthma, allergies, and poor immunity.
Experts say the study provides an unprecedented mirror in the links between intelligence and mental illness, as well as links between mood disorders and physical diseases.
