Serbia continues to use “Kosovo with goods

According to the AKS, data from foreign trade in Kosovo points to a commercial deficit that is best washed for 1.4 percent in September 2017, in proportion to the same period in 2016, worth 214m euros compared to its deficit of 211m euros in 2016.
“Exporting goods in September 2017 had a value of 34.1 million, while importing $28.1m is an increase of (57.4%) for export as well as (6.6%) for import compared to the same period in 2016.”, said the ASS report.
In September of this year, according to the AKS Kosovo exports with countries that have signed the free trade agreement with (CEFTA) reached 16.7m euros, or 49.0 percent of total exports, with a 57.4 per cent increase, where the ASK points to Albania at 17.0 per cent, then Macedonia at 15.2 per cent, Serbia at 9.5 per cent and Montenegro at 5.1 per cent.
However, imports from CEFTA countries during the past mode under the AKS reached 74.6m euros, or 30.1 per cent of total imports, with an increase of 13.0 per cent. Countries with higher share in imports according to the AKs were Serbia at 16.2 percent, Macedonia 5.5 percent, Albania 5.2 percent and B&H 2.5 percent.
Hard-to-do local products broke out in their products on the Serbian and Bosnian market even last year. Two countries that are based on official data have multiple imports rather than accept Kosovo exports.
Based on Kosovo Customs data, Kosovo trade exchange- Serbia-Bosnian has scored a major discreparation between Kosovo's import and exports. Serbia only last year has imported goods worth 390m euros to Kosovo, while Kosovo has exported about 30m euros.
The year 2016 Kosovo exported 30 million to Serbia, while Serbia exported 390m to Kosovo.
Also, the import of goods coming from Bosnia is greater than Kosovo's exports to Bosnia. In the past year, goods were imported from Bosnia at the value of 80m euros, against an export of 8.5m euros.
Kosovo in Bosnia and Herzegovina exported 8.5 million, while Bosnia and Herzegovina in Kosovo exported 80 million.
The Kosovo war ended in 1999 as Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in 2008. But Belgrade refuses to recognise Kosovo's independence. Disbelief and hostility between Albanians and Serbs is deep.
Despite hostility, Serbia remains the biggest exporter of goods in Kosovo, where those exports are continuing to grow. /Blic newspaper/
