North Korean hackers stole a large amount of data, including wartime plans released jointly by Washington and Seoul, when they attacked the South Korean Army computer network last year, a South Korean lawmaker said Tuesday, writes New York Times.
One of the plans included the South Korean Army's plan to kill North Korean leader Kim Jong, lawmaker Rhee Cheol-hee told reporters.
Rhee, a member of the ruling Democratic Party serving at the National Assembly Defence Committee, said he has recently learned of the extent of the attack on North Korean hackers.
Although Rhee said 300 confidential documents have been discovered, it is still unknown if any major military secret has been discovered. The military is still not in the election to catalog nearly 80 per cent of the 235 gigabyts of running data, he said.
While Defence Ministry spokesman Moon Sang-gyun has refused to comment on Rhee's discovery.
