Mark 19 years from killing “Sandocutan”

 Abednego Rexha was a fighter of the first ranks of the Kosovo Liberation Army, bold and fearless to the death, for which and his associates called it “Sandokan”

Abednego Raj was born with 08. 07. 1969 in Vajnik, Squirej municipality. The primary school was conducted in Turicec, the high school in Skenderaj, while I continued my studies at the Xehtaro-Methalorgic Faculty in Mitrovica. During high schooling, Skenderaj came into contact with illegal activists. At the time, he was associated with Jakup Nura and Nuhi Gecin, with whom he was already organized and often distributed Thracians and posters, calling for resistance against the Yugoslav invaders.

Because the conqueror had traced to Abednego's activity by 1992, he makes his way into exile. In the autumn of 1996, Abednego Rexha returns to Kosovo, in charge of specific duties, and holds a meeting with Commander Adem Jashar. He enters and leaves Kosovo many times. On May 6, 1997, Abedini along with Fehmi Ledrovci, Jeva Lladrovcin, Luan Haradinaj, Ilaz Kodra, Ramiz Laldrovci, etc. passes to the Albanian Alps. On the way, this group of fighters stands in ambush of Serbian forces, and after a fierce fight and the heroic fall of Luan Haradinaj, is forced to pull off the border.

Two months later, in July 1997, Abednego Rexha, along with Adrian Krasniqi, Ilaz Kodra, Ilir Konushevci and other freedom fighters manage to infiltrate Kosovo and work hard at expanding and consolidating the ranks of the KLA.

On November 25th, 1997, Serbian police go to Vajnik to arrest Abednego Raja Sandokan. Abednego and his two brothers, Brahim and Affliction, and other warriors, had confronted Serb gangs and had attacked them. Two Serbian police officers had been liquidated in this attack, while during this clash, Serbian forces had wounded Baki Krasniqi, 11.

On November 26, 1997, the legendary commander Adem Jashara's KLA had ordered an ambush of Serb forces at the site called Klysira in New Rezalla. Along with Adem Jashar and Abedin Raja were listed in positions and Muje Krasniqi, Ilaz Kodra, Nuhi Geci and many of the KLA's brave warriors.

The enemy's plan had begun to take effect. But in the early hours of the day, Serbian forces were found surrounded by all sides. During the withdrawal, Serbs had shot to death teacher Halit Geci, in the yard of the Larusha school. And, on November 28th 1997, on the occasion of the teacher's burial, Halit Geci, in Lyusa, Muja Krasniqi with his friends, Rexhep Selimi and Daut Haradinaj, being armed publicly declared the start of the liberation war in Kosovo, presenting itself before the move assembled in the Kosovo Liberation Army uniform.

During 1998, the Liberation War continued to expand rapidly, and Abednego Rexha could not contain anger against the invaders, who ruthlessly slaughtered children, women, men, and elders, and burned the homes of Albanians.

In early August 1998, General Staff KLABAR a, Abedin Raja was appointed Commander of Brigade 112 “Arben Haliti”, which was operating in the Drenica Operative Zone.

During August-September 199 months, Commander Sandokani fought fearlessly in many battlefields. And just at the peak of the wide-scale offensives by Serbian forces, in all KLA operational areas, and especially in ZO Drenica, October 08th 1998, Commander Abedin Rexha Sandokani, is killed in the forests of the village of Kllodernica, Sculwright municipality.

Abednego Raj Sandokani has left his wife with two children: Sokoli and Selveten. His heroism has been perpetuated in many scriptures in our press, in song and poetry, while the Bucharest School proudly bears Abedin Raja “Sandocan”.

On November 30th 2009, Commander Abbed Raja's wife, Sanije Rexha, has filed a criminal indictment against Guni Geci. In the criminal indictment filed at the EULEX Prosecution, Geci is charged with the murder of Abednego Raja Sandokani during the war on October 08th, 1998.

“I made a lawsuit near EULEX in my husband's case that this criminal act is carried out by Gani Geci. It is living evidence that he himself has accepted and that all Albanian measures also know who has committed this act and has publicly accepted it after his murder. Gajni Geci accepted it. I have evidence that after his murder he took some men who had sought faith to Abednego's family. We fought back that family man wasn't, he wasn't killed in private. He must render an account to the General Staff and justice of Kosovo”, so has Sanije Rexha declared, before journalists gathered at Square near the Kosovo Government building and the Kosovo Parliament.

Asked by journalists, why he hasn't filed charges so far, Sanija has said that: “until recently I had the intention of serving his sentence, to kill him publicly. I say this very openly, but with the intervention of family and society I haven't done it and I've decided to sue “she said.

Sanije Rexha, in front of reporters, has stated that the murder has occurred for family reasons (even though Sanije Rexha is Sabit Geci's sister and has family ties with Gani Gecin), but for military reasons, because „Gani Geci has been against The KLA, and against the KLA structures, this is the reason”, Sanija stressed.

Rex, then he explained that the murder took place after some of Ghes' attempts to kill Abednego. Two times Ganou tried to kill him, once I was there, we were driven by cars. The second case has escaped the conflict the very day he tried to kill him, in the evening, he's got him trapped and killed him, and he knows all of Drenica”, he pointed out to Sanije Rexha journalists.
