Italy shows whether to support Catalonia

The “Italia does not recognise and will not recognise the unilateral declaration of independence by the Catalonia regional Parliament”, Alfano stressed.
“Now dialogue is needed to save the population from an escalation of tensions, to a united and strong European country such as Spain”, it continued.
Catalonia's Parliament adopted a resolution today, declaring that the region becomes an independent state, taking the form of a republic. The opposition was not present in declaring independence.
Shortly after this vote, the Spanish Senate authorised Mariano Rajoy's government to take measures to abolish Catalonia's autonomy
