Health Minister Uran Ismaili said today that Kosovo will have universal health insurance, while promises will return to services Kosovo citizens must touch.
He made these comments at the opening of the workshop on mid-term review (RAM) of the Kosovar Health Project (PSHK), which is being held in Prevale.
Ismajli said he expects the Kosovo Health Project to strengthen management capacities in health institutions.
“We need to use this moment, this new Government, which aims to turn these reforms into reality and see the more organised health sector, with greater political, financial support and, of course, increased professional capacities where it needs. I swear that my support will be complete and powerful in that reforms that have begun to live”, he said.
Marko Mantovanelli, World Bank manager in Kosovo, said the Kosovar Health Project aims to ensure improved financial protection of the poor to save them from health spending, improve the quality of priority care services for mother and child, as well as health care services for protection against infectious diseases.
Mantovanelli said the BB will support Government, MS and the medical community in achieving these goals, while stressing the fact that reforms are nowhere easy, but that with intensive work, co-operation of all partners and transparency can be achieved.
The health insurance Fund's task officer, Seyde Tolaj, has made a presentation of the situation about preparations for the implementation of health insurance and capacities that he has so far built the fund.
He said the fund is an institution that exceeds the single MSSia institutions, so for the start of implementing premises and insurances, support is needed from the Government of Kosovo, its subordinate institutions and the health community.
The Kosovar Health Project, which is financing by the World Bank, worth 25.5m US dollars, is supporting the Government of Kosovo, under the agreement entered into force on May 20th 2015, in terms of improved financial protection of poor people from health spending, and improving the quality of the primary care services of the mother and child, as well as the services of non-company diseases.
