US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Hoyt Brian Yee has started his meetings with senior local institutions officials.
The first he met with is Kosovo President Hashim Thaci.
The meeting is closed to the media, until later Yee will also meet Chief Parliamentary Kadri Veselin and Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj.
Yee comes to Kosovo after last night's visit to Serbia. There, too, he met with state leaders.
After meeting with Serbia's elected president, Aleksandar Vuciq, he said the United States would strongly protect their interests and allies.
