The atmosphere involving Erdogan's visit to the media and local, regional and international political circles inevitably raises the question of whether it is a routine working visit or a turning point and a kind of political rapprochement between the two countries.

First of all, it must be stressed that in the historical, geostrategic and civilising context, Serbia and Turkey are naturally geopolitical opponents and that their strategic interests differ to a large extent.

However, the specificity of the current international and regional economic situation makes Serbia and Turkey at the first moment of the approach of the two countries, which, as Erdogan stressed in Belgrade, is largely the result of the new warm relations of the two presidents, who culminated in the fourth meeting this year.

By drawing some such red lines about the pressures of the major powers by being persistent for neutrality, which under current circumstances is synonymous with independence, Serbia opens up the opportunity to independently regulate relations with major powers like Turkey.

It is this kind of political capital that gives Belgrade the opportunity to discuss equal bases with Ankara in the convergence of bilateral energy interests, responsible for the common goal of Russian gas flowing through Turkey and Serbia into Central and Western Europe, from which Serbia and Turkey would have not only economic but political benefits.

Since Ankara cannot comply with destabilising the situation in the region through which the gas pipeline must pass, Erdogan's statement is encouraging where in 2019, gas can flow from Turkey through Serbia.

This brings us to the Bosnian issue, namely, the fate of Bosnians in the Balkans.

One of the main characteristics of Vuqi's regional strategy is an attempt to permanently reconcile Serbs and Bosniaks, and in this, as he has repeatedly stressed, Turkey can help.

The Serbian leadership's idea is to maximize Turkey's economic impact in the Raska region, because it has proved that economically prosperous regions are not fertile ground for developing extremist ideas (in this context it is worth mentioning the strategy of generous investment in war-torn Chechnya, which today is one of the most developed areas of southern Russia and across the Caucasus).

Under new circumstances, when Kurds control much of Syria and show ambition to declare autonomy

Iraqi Kurdistan leader, who organised a referendum on independence from Iraq several days ago, Erdogan has no interest in supporting any Pan-regional state unity project on an ethnic principle.

This key should read its latest statement to Albanian television that the idea of “Greater Albania” is unacceptable “” for Turkey./Periscopi/
