Chief State Prosecutor Alexander Lumezi has warned the indictment against former Pristina University Rector Enver Hasani. With a media communiqué, Lumez provides clarification and the judicial path he will pursue against Hasani. “ “Dje, on the 1810.2017th, news was delivered by the Pristina Foundation Court, the Department of Criminals. “Dje, on 1810.2017, news was delivered by the Pristina Foundation Court, the Department of Criminals. A former senior state official, or more accurately former Pristina University Rector, was convicted and sentenced to one year in prison on bail for a period of verification of two years. Even more important is the fact that in this case the myth created that the <x1-force” is immune to justice.

The State Prosecutor and the Constitutional Court in Pristina testified to the opposite of such a perception, because faced with numerous arguments, the court decided that defendants in question will receive the penalties for damages inflicted at Pristina University. Of course, we understand that the judgment in question will be appealed and eventually decided by the Court of Appeals.

And news of the conviction of the former Pristina University Rector appears to have been “the latter's” that yesterday come up with a letter of many points, but with a common denominator. The letters in question contain only slander, lies, and biased claims directed personally against me. It's not random that “reaction” in question has come only hours after the same one realized he was sentenced to prison on parole.

First I decided to ignore such slander, low. But I decided to make that reaction for the sake of transparency and opinion.

In this case, I want to assure the local and international opinion that I have conducted the jurisdictional exam in the most orderly way possible, and that's why I own all the necessary documentation. In addition to the documentation, professors, in whom I have passed the exams in question, as well as candidates who today exercise positions in the judicial system and Kosovo's lawyer have yet to exist.

Moreover, I would like to remind you of the opinion, but also the entire other local and international factor, that in 2010, during the comprehensive process of re-appointed prosecutors and judges by the International Independent Commission for the appointment of prosecutors, they have verified all the submitted documentation and, among other things, certificates that testify to the exam of jurisdiction.

Since such slander is yours done by the same person, I've decided as the following:

I will authorise a lawyer for slander against Enver Hasani and I expect such an indictment to be considered by the court as soon as possible;

I request from EULEX's prosecution to investigate Enver Hasani's statements independently and urgently, and then depending on the findings to act. If such claims are not verified, I expect Enver Hasani to be investigated for the criminal offence of false reporting;

While I invite the media to do their research independently and impartially, because such a thing is public and there is documentation, and many people, who are witnesses and can clear up the claims shown and inform the opinion of their findings;

And in the end, I demand that all actions be carried out in an opimal timeline because each citizen of the Republic of Kosovo deserves to be informed of the right and the true in this case, while whoever is responsible for a bad report or slander, gets the right answer from the court.

Finally, I consider that this statement is a continuation of a long war, initiated by this person from the moment of my appointment as chief State Prosecutor, and poses pressure on the work we do and also presents an attempt to undermine the rule of law in the Republic of Kosovo and to prevent progress in combating the crime being done by the State Prosecutor. But the same and all of his kind, must know and realize that this attempt of them will have no success, but will fully intensify the fight against crime and with special focus on fighting corrupt criminal acts.
