A life in football... a life for Co-sider... The legends that have made football history are numerous and have more or less the same characteristics: They've remained in the hearts of fans, they're the cause of intense emotion, frequent heartbeat, cheering. One of them, more than legend [...]

One of them, more than football legend, is the legend of the Albanian National National, on Monday will kick the ball for the last time and bid farewell to football played after 388 games as professional footballers in clubs and 93 encountering the National Fantel, as no one else so far.

Lorik Cana

Lorik Cana, in a story about “Panorama Sport”, check almost all the stages of his football life. From the coach with the most contribution to his career, to the special report with De Biazi. From the most special moment, to the extraordinary emotions in the European world, the hostage to that competition to the special man who will accompany him to the field when he lands for the last kick of ball as footballer in front of the Albanian public.

How is Lorik Cana's life about 15 months after he left football?

Life is simple, with family, spending maximum time with it. It is between Italy and Albania, as well as the most frequent visits to Kosovo. I've been using the sea since Europe until the new year to rest with my family. Since January, I've started the foundation project “Lorik Cana 5”, which has started in Albania and will soon have branches in Kosovo as well. It's something that took most of my time. I also used these 15 months to complete the first two diplomas of U. EFA for coach.

So, just as a coach?

No, I don't plan too fast to be a coach, but I want to own them. That has been the period for me, with several different trips to some parts of the world.

Have you regretted closing your career so quickly, and would you like to play a little longer, or were circumstances so strong that they could?

The reasons are very simple, and the main thing was that, for health problems, I had to finish my career earlier. I didn't think it would happen at the age of 33, because I believed I could play for two or three more years, at least physically I still had the chance, despite starting to feel the years.

I had regimen and commitment at work as well as a physical form, which allowed me to play until I was 35-36. I ended up with 33 simply because high - level football began to become a health hazard, which is why I made that decision.

You've announced that you'll be out in front of the fans on the field for the last time. What do you have in front of her?

In fact, the wish was to be done earlier. At first, the idea was to take place in the first six months of 2017 that the farewell ceremony gets closer to leaving football. It's been a long time now. The desire was to become a friend, a special meeting of the representative, to be in the field for a few minutes, playing the last time I left football.

However, the competition, plans, and program did not permit that. We made the decision, top of the month to organize it by talking to family, federation, and friends. It's late, but I have to say hello to the people at the last game to be played in our country.

It's a qualifying against Italy, which will have a lot of people in the stadium and we thought we'd better do it now than not do it at all. So it was the last moment, because later that we couldn't postpone it, since a farewell after two years of leaving football, it doesn't make sense. Even in 15 or 16 months, we are late. I'd rather do it now than make sense.

This brought about “from the” Italian media that indicated you could return to Lacio...

(LAUGHS) Yeah, there were some...

After the announcement, the grouping “Red and Black” made an open letter asking you to postpone it due to their boycott. Have you talked to them?

Of course I did. The reason I haven't addressed them with public paper is because I know those guys and I've preferred to explain to them why this game is set and why it can't be postponed and why this decision is so late. It's not like we knew about this ceremony a few months ago. I've been explaining to them about why it was decided at the last moment that this ceremony could either be done now or it couldn't be done at all.

The last fight with a lot of people at the stadium was this qualifying match with Italy, as in November it is unknown whether or not we will have a friendly one, with which opponent, and whether it will be in or outside our country. The big match with Italy is the only organization or manifestation where it can become goodbye. The reason it can't be postponed is just because 15 months after I quit football, it's too late, let's put it off for next year that doesn't make sense anymore.

What was their reaction?

They certainly expressed regret that they have decided within the grouping to continue with their attitude. It's absolutely their right. I have gratefully told them that all the support we've had from them, even I feel myself “Red and BlackTIfos himself.

I am the first to want to be in the stadium, as even in the match, where there were not nearly any fans, they were present at the stadium supporting and representing the values and wishes of every Albanian. They have their position. I tried to change their minds and it wouldn't be the same without them, but I understand their position and absolutely their appreciation won't change. My opinion of them won't move at all.

Many years of career in Italy but also a friendly fight with the National in Italy. What would you give to be on the field at Shkodra at the official game?

(Laughter) The places you play in a career and a name are always a little more special. Of course, the hardest fight not to be present in the field was the one against France in Europe. And this, a qualifying match, against a place I've played for years, even where I've taken my wife, is symbolic between the two countries and I believe it will be a wonderful evening.

How do you see Albania before this match?

It's going to be a game where the representative will try to get the best of the edition and keep up the job and do the basics for future qualifications. Also, an Italy, which is not yet known how it will close the qualifications and that will seek to secure second place in Albania. For me, that makes it very interesting as a match and I believe there is a positive and positive rivalry between the two countries. We believe we can win that fight.

Is there any chance of Albania going to win?

I believe that Albania has managed to win against stronger nationals than Italy, and I see no reason why, in its country, with a proper form, the right game and people's support, it will not succeed.

How have you seen the National recently, what are you doing right and where you're crying?

In technical terms, I believe that the National has certain bases and security, which makes a good national on the European stage. It has demonstrated this for the past four years, where it has shown that it is a representative that has solid ground and remains a strong opponent.

But until the previous edition and in friendly against Luxembourg, things did not go as planned, especially in terms of results. But the team showed a lot of character and realized that it really has obligations and demands, and then it made an extraordinary turn in Israel, showing some values based on its own strength and playing all with the same mentality.

How do you view this position?

Looking at the lot, I think it was a good achievement. Normally, the target was the first two countries, but looking at favourite Spain, a small option remained to capture Italy. In some key matches, however, we have not even had the right quality to win. This leads the team to find its place in a good position that we will try to preserve to the end.

Since you know Italian school well, how did you see Panucci in these first three games?

Italian training school is among the best in the world, and not by chance there are Italian trainers running clubs inside and outside Italy. We have had a very good experience with Janine, who has influenced Albania to take some steps forward and reach for the first time to qualify.

Furthermore, he has been entrusted with an Italian coach who is on the start of his career and I believe he has taken his job with the Nationals willingly and wholeheartedly. Absolutely, it is in the way it speaks, how it works, and who is eager to manage to demonstrate himself through Albania.

Seeing that the first fights were such that he didn't first know the team and tried to make a better idea of the group by doing the job as well and winning against Liechtenstein. I was not in the stadium against Macedonia, but I followed it on television.

There the coach has to show how he can make the best of the team in times of difficulty during the match, but also with a score I think he can make us stay in third place. Still, each match has good things to do and things to improve, but it is his duty to get as much information as possible and to respond best during the games.

But Panucci had no friend...

In my opinion, there was the fate and possibility that, based on the teams in the group, there would be four games in different hands. From a low-level opponent you play at home and win, then an opponent who aims to take third place and fights you in a face of pressure somewhat outside the football, which is something new to him.

Also, two matches with major opponents like Spain and Italy. I believe that these four games, this cycle and some friendlies in the future will be very helpful in getting ready for European qualifications.

Lorik, which one do you single out for the best career moment?

The best career moment is certainly when we qualified with Albania in Europe. Especially after a long journey and after a European qualifying phase that was of different emotions, extraordinaryly filled with grief and special moments.

When we qualified in Armenia, it was special in our career. Of course, when you get to European, it's what you've been fighting for and it's really a remarkable achievement. There have been many moments, but these with the Nationals I isolate, because every emotion and every emotion is multiplied.

Which do you single out, Armenia (the unit that qualified) or Romania (first victory in European)?

I believe they're both special. Armenia has been the fruit and achievement of a dream of all players. It has been two different emotions, as the first has been an outburst of emotions of years and years of work and dreams to realize people the opportunity to see their country there. Knowing that you have accomplished it is at first harder with emotions and that's why you have stronger emotions.

With Romania, it has been more a joy and enjoying what we achieved. It's like a person, after a very hard job, finally enjoys it. It was a holiday of nearly 30,000 Albanians in the stadium, as a scenario, as a dream written. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough for us to cross groups where we might have even pretended, but I think we did a good job.

Who do you see as your successor in the National?

Each team or National always finds players who take on some kind of responsibility. There are some players who have played with me for many years, and in recent years, Ans has inherited a leader's role along with other players like Exile. Etritus has begun to get a maturity.

There are other players who have a little more age and experience like Migen, but Elseide will be a reference to the National for many years, seeing him play a club ball. I think they're safe. I believe Ans has done an extraordinary task, a contribution, and I believe it is coming to an end if it is not now after the European.

Then there will be others and it is the Exile, who can take over. He has the right tranquillity, the experience of doing good. Then, for many years, I believe it will be Hysa who will take over this task. The next few years will give you a maturity that I believe will be the right time to move on.

What coach singles out Lorik Cana in a career?

I'll try to find one in two directions. The coach at the club, who did a lot, had a strong connection with experience and experience, was Eric Gerets, the Belgian coach when I was at the Marseilles Olympics. In the country it was Gianni, for apart from the report, she was crowned with a great accomplishment. These are the two trainers I singled out in my career.

When are we gonna see Lorik Cana again in the National?

We always see the Cana in the Nationals. I try to follow it forever.

Lorik, you're asking me the question, not as a fan...

To have a role, at the moment it's not absolutely in my plans. If I decide one day, I'd like to be a representative coach and also the opportunity to run a national, I'd love to.

But it will come only from my will, and it will not come if Lorik is thought to be coming. No, Lorik must be willing to think that he is capable of doing so. Only in this case do I run, but at the moment I don't have the will, nor do I think I'm qualified enough.

Besides being organized at Shkodra, who's gonna be Cana's special guest?

I'll be with my family, but they can't all come because some people are in France and they're with kids or sisters who are at school. My friends from France, Italy, Kosovo will come. I'll have my family close.

Any more details about the ceremony?

I'll have my son and I think I'll go out and say hello to the people with him.

O YOUR SIL
