Belgrade correspondent leaves Top Channel: I left because...

Another journalist has left Top Channel national television. Just a few days ago on Top Channel afternoon, he changed his moderator as Jonida Shehu finally left the program and said he cut off all contact with television.

The next one is Idro Sefer, Top Channel correspondent in Belgrade, for more than ten years. The news has revealed the journalist himself on Facebook, while his departure has commented on it this way: “Arsyet leaving are technical and, according to his personal decision to look at himself more calmly after a large volume of work.” Seferi has indicated there has been no confrontation with television staff, while giving no further reason for his secession after almost a decade.

Over 10 years of working in Belgrade, I have had the honour and satisfaction of being part of the story since the Troika for Kosovo as a continuation of talks in Vienna, elections, construction of powers and endless battles for the past and the future. I have had the honour and satisfaction of reporting from every corner of the former Yugoslavia, to be part of and do a job that I consider important by going to any possible location, from the crisis of Albanian-Serbian relations, to declare Kosovo independence, the arrest event of Hages wanted indictees, reporting from Ratko Mladic's home, from other events, the introduction of Albania to NATO, and then to Zagreb for officialisation, elections there, and the home of Melanie Trumpla in front of Slovenia. From Zvornik, Srebrenica, Mostar, Visoko, Sarajevo, Tuzla, Zjenica, Konjic, Vitez, Vukovar, Osjek, Zagreb, Rijeka, Crikvenica, Skopje, Tetove Pres, Gostivar, Kosovo and across Serbia, or as they once said from Vardari to Trigrla and by competing with mainstream media and journalist. For over 10 years, I've written almost every person that's been important and I've been trying to be where it hasn't been possible and bring something different into Albanian. It's often been a pleasure to represent more than the media I've worked on showing the symbol that everyone, regardless of where they're from, can make and know how to make media and television.

I have met, interviewed and seen most Balkan citizens and important events, even in front of international media far more powerful than all of us. I've been trying with dignity to stick to my profession and I'm sorry if the odds weren't bigger.

I worked ten shows and documentaries and a lot of characters for the first time spoke Albanian.

I'm not gonna be a reporter for Top Channel anymore.

I thank colleagues for the long and uncomfortable work and all the staff and directors of Top Channel who have given me the opportunity to tell you what I know and learn to raise myself and offer to the public.

We all share ideas and interests at certain times and the way we value things like people is always subjective, as much as journalism is, however, a personal impression of the events that we see. The reasons for the departure are of the technical nature and of the personal decision to look at yourself quietly after a great volume of work. More than that, I don't want to comment on it, and the whole thing at Top Channel is friends. To me, the TC remains an unimaginable protape and an honor for me to do a job that won't happen twice!

I thank all those friends, conversationators and colleagues in all the countries where Albanians live and those in other countries who have never saved anything for me by making me realize that people are people regardless of what language they speak.

I thank my entire family of relatives for showing patience with my foolishness and my love of the profession by often putting them in positions to think of me more than I should.
