At least 400,000 civilians have been blocked by the Syrian regime in the eastern region near the capital of Damascus, allowing them to fight malnutrition.
At least two children have died because of malnutrition, and hundreds of others are facing a terrible situation as health care facilities are destroyed and most of the others are dysfunctional.
Part of Damascus's suburbs, eastern Ghota has been under siege by regime forces since December 2012.
This regime has made its siege difficult last month, preventing residents from feeding and taking health services, resulting in increased infant deaths.
The number of infant deaths has increased dramatically due to lack of milk and adequate food”, one media centre official said in eastern Ghetu.
The latest victim was Sehar Blvdida, a month-long child who died of malnutrition.
Local doctor Yahya Abu Yahya said the baby died of food shortages because even his mother was malnourished, the baby was buried on Sunday.
Syria has been engaged in a vicious civil war since early 2011, when Bashar al-Assad's regime has hit an unexpected riot.
The Syrian regime openly supports Iran and Russia. According to UN officials, hundreds of thousands of people have been killed and more than 10 million displaced. /Insider. com
