American Embassy reacts to Thaci on charges against Special Court

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, during yesterday's day, has pressed charges in the direction of international friends on several promises he said were made in exchange for establishing the Special Court. The US Embassy in Kosovo has responded to allegations by President Thaci, who during the day that yesterday accused internationals of promising him much in exchange for forming the Special Court.
In a response to the Express, the American Embassy has indicated that the US will remain committed to the successful action of Kosovo's Specialised Chambers in The Hague.
The UN “remains fully committed to the successful action of Kosovo's Specialised Chambers in The Hague, and we welcome the commitment of state institutions to co-operate with the Court. Kosovo's co-operation with this process will strengthen the international state position and will be a concrete indicator of the basic democratic principles where rule of law applies to all citizens, the same”, said the Embassy's written answer.
At the American Embassy, they have not left without mentioning Kosovo's membership in international mechanisms.
In this respect, they have suggested that the US will support Kosovo at any moment.
The United States strongly supports Kosovo's membership in international organisations; whose membership is based on specific criteria for each institution; and the US Government will continue to work closely with Kosovo for it to meet those” requirements.
Thaci, however, has said during yesterday that the Special Court is not a disadvantage, but an advantage for Kosovo.
“There is often said to be a black cloud over Kosovo that we have to remove. To be clear, that black cloud has been created by Serbia, and no one better than Kosovars can remove that black cloud. So, the Special Court is an opportunity to strengthen the sense of justice in Kosovo, reiterate the sense of justice”, he has said.
