The suspicious death of Vetevendosje activist Astrit Dehari, in Prizren's detention cells in Kosovo in November 2016 caused an earthquake in Kosovo politics and underwent protests from civil society.
An investigation launched by Prizren's prosecution to clarify the circumstances of the young man's death has recently included the justice system in Albania. A few days earlier, the Court of Tirana has given green light to the execution of a literature of Kosovo justice authorities in the case. Through a decision announced on December 24th, whose device was provided by “ABC News”, Judge Ahmet Metallaj, allows the execution of Kosovo investigators' request to question forensic expert Besim Ymaj, former director of the Legal Medicine Institute in Tirana.
Ymaj is one of two independent experts engaged by the family of the late Dehari, present during the autopsy of the late 26-year-old.
Contacted by “ABC News” via phone, family lawyer Dehari Tom Gashi, explained that Albanian expert Ymaj will be questioned in the quality of the witness, based on a request by Prizren prosecution.
Referring to the conclusion of two independent experts, Besim Ymaj and Besim Latifaj, the lawyer stressed that in us Astrit Dehar's body has had signs of violence and that his death is violent and that it is considered murder in the giant language.
On the other hand, when we are separated just a few days from the 1st anniversary of the event, the lawyer has asked for another expert.
He has addressed a request to Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj to engage Switzerland's University Legal Medicine Centre for an independent expertise of Astri's death.

Astrit Dehari passed away on November 5, 2016, while being held in detention cells as one of the persons suspected of the mortar attack on the Kosovo Assembly in August last year.
