86 prosecutors committed for election day

The CEC, Kosovo Police and the State Prosecutor have held a conference where they have announced the preparations they have made for the October 22nd elections.

CEC Chairman Valdete Daka said the election organisation is one of the comprehensive processes. The CEC has managed to meet its goals of organising the October 22nd elections.

“The CEC has also seen to it that those who committed criminal acts are not involved in monitoring the elections. The CEC has appointed 18 thousand members of the decision-making councils. Also on behalf of the CEC, I call on subjects to contribute to the electoral process”, Daka said.

Deputy state prosecutor Sevdije Morina said the State Prosecutor on the basis of a memorandum with the CEC and other local election institutions has taken these actions.

“has appointed a state-level co-ordinator and a deputy co-ordinator. A prosecutor for election day. He has appointed 7 co-ordinators for the Kosovo regions. The State Prosecutor has appointed 86 election day prosecutors, who have started working since the first day of the campaign. So far these prosecutors have received information that four criminal acts have been committed during the” campaign, Morina said.

While Kosovo Police Deputy General Director Naim Rexha said that police until this moment have taken all necessary measures and actions to complete all the tasks we have taken with the signing of the memorandum.

He announced 17 incidents occurred during the election campaign.

All gatherings have been monitored and in some cases police have had to intervene. In assessing the state of risk and opportunity even in the overall aspect there is no high degree of risk anywhere and that is signal that, however, according to our preparations, we will cover all centers. We'll also be on staff security”, Rexha said.
