In his message, Obama points out that the idea of self-rule was a radical step in 1776, remembering that the American Revolution gave birth to the Declaration of Independence, which said that all humans have been created equal and enjoy certain rights.
According to Obama, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights created a framework that has enabled later generations to make the country “increasingly perfect”.
