A New Monkey Species Discovered

A new species of monkeys has been confirmed in the Democratic Republic of Congo. These monkeys have pink lips in orange and black faces.
They were seen in dense tropical forests at Lomam National Park in the east of the country.
Environmentalists working in those areas had reported seeing this animal since 2008, but had fired only a turbulent photograph, the BBC wrote.
After the animal was seen 10 years later an international team was sent for research and found to be the new species.
This type of monkeys is the fifth African species to have been discovered in the last 75 years.
Some of the inhabitants reportedly knew about the existence of this species of monkeys and of referring to them as Lichweel.
However, the team of researchers from the Democratic Republic of Congo, the U.S.A. and Germany gave this monkey the Latin name “Colobus songensis”. Such monkeys, they say, have a distinctive voice. / Periscopi/
