US launches new attacks against Iran as “Punishment” What happened?

The United States undertook new attacks against Iran and re-established sanctions on Iranian oil sales, as a sign of retaliation for a series of attacks on commercial ships near the Strait of Hormuz.
“This is punishment”, an American official for CNN said. This won't end so soon”
The latest round of attacks comes as US President Donald Trump meets with world leaders this week at the NATO summit in Turkey, where Hormuz Strait is expected to be one of the main topics of discussion.
CNN tells what the situation is like:
U.S. response: The recent US attacks on Iran are “the direct result of acts of international terrorism carried out by Iran against innocent ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz”, an American official for CNN said, adding that Iranians know “the consequences of”, but “again choose to carry out these attacks”.
The US official also said US military attacks against targets in Iran “are not proportional to” in response to the series of attacks against ships near the Strait of Hormuz.
The local impact of American attacks:Blasts were heard in Bandar Abbas and Siric port cities, as well as on the island of laughter, according to Iranian state media. Some people were also injured by shells fragments during the attack on the Scauti Scath, according to Iranian state broadcaster IRIB.
The president returns: Iranian President Masoud Peskian is travelling towards Tehran from Iraq, according to state broadcaster I RIB. The president had travelled to the Iraqi town of Najaf for the multiday mortary ceremony of former Iranian Supreme Leader Ailellah Ali Khamenei, whose body arrived in that city on Tuesday.
Oil sanctions: Iran also condemned the reinstatement of US sanctions on Iranian oil, naming it a clear <x0-feanance” of the Memorandum of Understanding reached between the two countries last month. Iran's Foreign Ministry said in a statement it keeps the US government “accountable for the consequences of this violation of commitments”.
Meanwhile, US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth is planning to hold his first visit to Israel on Wednesday, according to three sources familiar with the issue. It was not immediately clear whether these plans would be influenced by American attacks carried out overnight in Iran.
