Farmers complain of low wheat price, top producer expected this year

120 acres of wheat. This is the amount planted this year by farmer Valon Mehapi in the village of Suhodol in Lipjan.
In some areas of Kosovo, harvests have already begun, and in some parts it will take a few days.
Now we're following the parcels with the Imer Rusinovci Professor, which tells us how many days we can start with the harvest, not to get in trouble with the moisture issue. It's seen that this year the wheat hectol is better than last year, because of climate conditions. The wheat is much better than the previous years”, says Mehapi.
Despite the will for work, Mehapi says he has faced many challenges.
These include low sales prices.
It's embarrassing what the farmer's condition is, at what high prices we've planted, at what high prices we've come up here, and we can't get the money you've invested. It means you've got less than that investment. Where are we gonna go like this, and where are we gonna go like that? I can't understand”, he says.
Farmers like Mehapi dealing with wheat planting, Professor Imer Rusinovac says they must be fully supported by the state.
“I suggest the Government of Kosovo, respectively, that this culture, which is wheat, that is strategic culture, which is not discussed its role, importance and endowment, to be fully supported, especially for productivity, because I think once and for all that it should be perceived as strategic product in relation to other cultures that are characterized by high material”, says Agriculture Professor Imer Rusinovci.
It shows that this year the productivity is expected to be higher than last year's.
“expects a pretty good producer of this year. It may be something higher than last year, but in particular for hectolitary weight or flour rate, because all the samples that we've accomplished in the three to four days that it started, in Prizren and Suhareka, are complying with the standard that should be for the grinding industry. But as the total amount of wheat that we will have in Kosovo from these growing plots, it will again be insufficient to meet our” estimates Russia.
Over the course of those days, he stressed that in all of Kosovo the harvest of wheat could also begin, as the standard of grain must have been reached for storage writes tve1, Periscopi broadcasts.
