Koci alerts: Kosovar claims threatened, paid 2,000 euros on border with Serbia

Lawyer Arianan Koci has made public the confession of a citizen from Kosovo who claims he has faced threats and extortion during crossing the Batrovci/Bayakovo border crossing from Serbia.
According to Koci, the citizen named Illir contacted him on Sunday evening, while he has announced that he has verified his identity and possessed his documents. However, the lawyer points out that he could not independently verify claims on how the event happened.
I have been contacted by Illiri, a citizen from Kosovo whose identity I have verified and his documents are in my possession”, Koci wrote.
According to citizen claims, he and his family were detained around 16:30 during their departure from Serbia and sent to a space within the border zone, where they were controlled by several policemen. He claims that family phones and stored photos were also examined during the check.
Always according to his confession, as pictures of the Albanian flag and KLA have been found on the children's phones, police have threatened him with arrest and detention in Belgrade, telling him children would remain only if they did not pay 2,000 euros.
After his confession, in fear, he has given the police 2,000 euros”, Koci said.
The lawyer stressed that claims have not been independently verified, but added that if they result in accuracy, it is an extremely serious case.
If these claims are correct, it is about an extremely serious event”, he said.
Koci called on citizens who claim they have experienced similar treatment during the transition through Serbia to contact him, the nearest police station and the Kosovo Embassy in the state they live in.
“If it turns out that there are other cases of the same elements, they should be documented and followed through the legal ways”, Koci concluded.
