Thirty-day Constitutional Term Begins, Parliament Must Be Constitutiond by 7 August

The Central Election Commission (KQZ) on Wednesday has certified the final results of early parliamentary elections held on June 7th, formally completing the election process.

With the Certificate of results finalised, the composition of the new Kosovo Assembly legislature has also been reflected, while two changes have been reflected on the Alliance's list of MPs.

The decision has also started to run a 30-day constitutional deadline for the constitution.

According to Article 66 of the Constitutional Court and interpretation, the new legislature must be constitutionalised no longer than August 7th.

The Constitution has clarified that"the implementation of the constitutional session means not only the gathering of deputies into the hall, but the conclusion of all constitutional acts that make the constitution functional, including the verification of mandates, the oath of MPs, as well as the election of the Speaker and deputy heads of the Parliament.

In line with the procedures, Presidential Task Commissioner Albulen Haxhiu will call the constitutional session within the set deadline with the Constitution.

Prior to maintaining it, the preparation meeting with representatives of parliamentary political subjects for organising the session is expected to take place.

Following the certificate of results, Haxhiu has reacted through a post on social networks, praising that an important democratic process for the Republic of Kosovo is concluded with this act.

"Today, with the Certificate of final results of the June 7th elections by the Central Election Commission, an important democratic process for our Republic concludes. The will of the citizens, expressed by domestic vote and by our countrymen, has already taken its final institutional form", she wrote.

Haxhiu has thanked the election institutions and all those who contributed to the success of the process, while stressing that the constitutional session will be called in line with constitutional deadlines.

It has added that the trust granted by citizens represents a great responsibility and that each mandate should be exercised with integrity, accountability and dedication in the service of public interest, democracy and the future of the Republic of Kosovo.

The Assembly's framework will pave the way for the phase of forming new institutions.

Following the election of the chairman and deputy speaker of the Parliament, the acting leader of the President will mandate the candidate for prime minister, who should then secure the parliamentary majority's support for forming the Government and electing the president.

On the president's case, since the assembly's completion day, lawmakers have 60 days to elect the head of state.

61 votes are needed for forming the Government, and for the president, 80 votes are needed. /Telegraphy/
