The number of victims in Venezuela rises to at least 589, incumbent president says

The number of victims from the earthquake in Venezuela has increased to 589, while the number of injured has reached 2,980, incumbent Delcy Rodríguez indicated.
The previous official update reported 235 victims and 4,300 injured, the BBC reports, broadcast Periscopi.
The update comes as rescue teams are working to find other persons trapped under the rubble. The number of victims is expected to rise significantly, as the search-saving teams continue to find further casualties.
We haven't slept a minute in our efforts to save lives”, Rodríguez told state broadcaster Venezuelan VTV, while praising the arrival of international aid and emergency teams. “We have saved dozens of lives,” she added.
VTV also reported that the search-saving teams are focusing efforts in the state of La Guaira, which appears to be the most hit area. The government announced it has also established a collection centre of food, water and medicine for needy people, near the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Caracas.
